One of the largest and oldest shareware publishers ever, SoftDisk distributed games of many small-time designers and developers, many of whom, such as id's John Carmack, went on to greater fame and fortune. Its "Big Blue Disk" concept of distributing shareware games once a month on a subscription basis, was very well-received in early 1990s as good budget-priced alternative to commercial software.
